A regular day. Lots to do. Talking with Papa, exercise, showers, laundry, dishes, walking the dogs, cooking, cleaning, studying, school …. Hebrews don’t have “weekends.” They have Shabbat and the 6 working days. So today was not a “Sunday”, but the 1st day of Yah’s work week. 🙂
I cook an entire week of food for Isaac on Sunday so that he has good food to eat all week long while trucking. He stops every once-in-a-while to get a burger or pizza somewhere, but I just wouldn’t be able to live with myself if I sent him out on the road for the week without NUTRITIOUS food for him to eat.
Because I don’t buy a lot of processed and pre-packaged food, it’s a huge challenge for me to get Isaac stocked up with good food for the week –– in one morning. So, if I have remembered to get groceries on Friday and if we have Shabbat leftovers that will help me to make him food quickly without going back to the store on Sunday. In just an hour or so. I make Isaac homemade food (from scratch) that will cover the whole week for him. If he leaves on Sunday he leaves around noon and I don’t want to spend my whole morning cooking for him––I’d rather BE with him. So I do it fast!
Today, all I had was 1 hour to crank out a week’s worth of food for Isaac. When I’m in the kitchen for this task, everyone better stay out! 🙂 Food for a trucker is definitely a tricky thing! He eats while he is driving –– so finger food is best, but I can’t always make finger food. Packaged food would be so easy, but not healthy. It is what it is. At least he has food! 🙂
Wanna know what I made Isaac to eat this week?
I made him mashed potatoes and veggies, spaghetti with chicken and artisan bread, tuna sandwiches, egg salad sandwiches, bean dip with tomatos, a salad, a yogurt parfait, and burritos. I sent in mason jars: keifer, kombutcha, orange juice. I gave him a ton of dry foods like cereals, nuts and dried fruit, fresh fruit (mango, oranges, bananas), teas and coffee, water in glass jugs, beef jerky, bagels and cream cheese, cupcakes from my birthday and chocolate and treats from our Rosh ha’Shanah party. I feel like I’m missing something…. 🙂
After Isaac left… more study (and my first voice lesson) then Hadassah and I drove to CDA to clean the dance studio….then home and I went back to class. 🙂
I think it’s time to go to bed… 🙂 That’s part of what I did today, I hope you have had a GREAT 1st day of Yah’s week!
